Centre for Work, Organization and Society book launch

Post by Melissa »

You are warmly invited to us for a Centre for Work, Organisation and Society book launch event taking place this week, on Wednesday15th June, from 12-2pm BST via Zoom. Please email the organisers: Dr Sophie Hales (shales@essex.ac.uk) or Melissa Tyler (mjtyler@essex.ac.uk) for the Zoom link.

Dr Louise Nash will introduce her recently published book, 'The lived experience of work and city rhythms: A rhythm analysis of London's Square Mile'.

The culmination of several years of ethnographic research, this book explores changing perceptions, experiences and meanings of the workplace. Focusing on the City of London, the heart of the UK's financial services sector, it considers how the City's distinctive architecture, history, traditions and culture have shaped work, historically and more recently. Exploring how the City is experienced as a work place, the book also presents a method for researching how work places evolve by paying attention to their spatial and temporal rhythms.

We will joined by a panel of discussants:

Philip Hubbard, Professor of Geography at Kings College, the University of London
Dawn Lyon, Reader in Sociology at the University of Kent
Patricia Lewis, Professor of Management at Kent Business School, the University of Kent

Please share details with any colleagues and PhD students you think may be interested, they will be very welcome to join us!

Best wishes,
Melissa Tyler
