In the face of deepening social, economic, and ecological crises, this ephemera special issue explores activist organising as a driver of transformative change. From algorithmic accountability to online anarchist networks and the self-organising of entrepreneurs, from business school activism to hospital occupations, cooperative movements, and refugee resettlement ecosystems, the issue showcases the diverse ways activists propose a new world in the making. While activist organising fosters hope and transformation, it also inherently navigates tensions and pitfalls. By documenting these struggles and strategies of social change, this issue highlights the crucial role of organising from below in challenging the status quo and building a socially just, ecologically sustainable future.
