Dear all,

With apologies for cross-posting ...

If you can, please join us for this week’s Centre for Work, Organization and Society seminar, taking place 12-1pm (1-2pm CET) on Zoom:

Join Zoom Meeting
https://essex-university.zoom.us/j/99195411935

Meeting ID: 991 9541 1935

It will be given by Louise Lecomte and Lucie Chartouny (Université Paris Dauphine – PSL). Louise recently completed her PhD in Strategy & Organization Studies, focusing on how organizations with different objectives can act together for feminist causes. Lucie recently completed her PhD in Organization Studies - an ethnography of different NGOs and social movements to understand the organization of help.

Their paper focuses on a feminist social movement acting against femicides on the streets of +150 cities by pasting posters on the walls, reflecting on this movement through the lens of commoning. Through their ethnographic study, they examine ‘gluing’ as a practice that can be understood both in a metaphorical and a more literal way, arguing that gluing is a practice of commoning in which members create prefigurative relationships, triggering recognition of certain subjects and revising their understanding of their past. Relying on a specific mode of action performed collectively, their research shows how members of the movements they consider show their vulnerability in urban spaces while simultaneously denouncing it.
